BAD TRIP # 1
Working at Hollywood raceway in South Florida, for Eddie Zacchini in 1979, we were climbing the ladders for a Sat. Morning show, about 20' up I had a strange feeling of climbing, yet going down, when I hit the ground I figured something was wrong. This photo shows where the "deadman" was before the stakes on the end of one of our poles pulled, (5 - 2" diameter, 5' long steel stakes). Luckily since we were climbing the ladders we rode them down instead of falling, and were uninjured.

I remember when we first moved to Oceans Springs Mississippi. It was very close to the beach. When the elephants walked the ground sort of squished and made them nervious. The bugs drove them crazy. Me too. I deffanutly [?] am not a southern belle. Give me the North any time. Everything in the south is just tooo sweet and syrupy. Thats the only way I can discribe it.
I really thought we were going to comment on something else from the 60s. I never went through mine until the 80s. Gary will know what I mean. I sure wish I had met Trudy and you over the years. I think I saw this act once or twice and the years mean it was performed by you. Do you remember the couple who did the space ship act. Lots of dry ice used.
The tooo sweet and syrupy comment was not about the people in the south. The weather and seanery[?] was what I was writing about. I never got used to the slow pace of the south. After a while I realized the heat and damp made you slow down if you wanted to or not. I just never adopted to that way of life. I am not real crazy about the snakes either. But I could and do live on red beans and rice most of the time. Have never had better shrimp then that served in the south. Grit are my side dish of choice.
Regarding an earlier comment. I ment to say Flying Saucer instead of Space Ship. The dry ice was very spookie.
Rebecca, the space ship act you are referring to was probably Johnny Zoppe Jr., & his wife Betty, they had a lot of great special effects. since we already did that type act, and Johnny's act was new, a lot of people came to me to agitate, and criticize, but I fooled them. Johnny & I were friends before he built the act, and remained friends after. I thought it was a good act!
