MOMORY LANE #3
THE HILDALYS
Hilda & Andre Prinz doing their unique, one of a kind, Upside-Down Unicycle Act. When they retired they taught Patsy & Johnny Jordan, who also did a great job with the act. Hilda is Harold Alzana's sister.
THE GERALDOS
This is Madaline & Rene Geraldo, who were most famous for their Double Trapeze, they later did a Flying Act,(can anyone name the catcher in that act), before going to the wheel. This wheel was originally built by inventor Clay Beckett for Hennie (Celeste) Luxom, & was worked by her nephew Johnny.
THE EXOTIC CLAMARS
This is Kitty & Gabby Wendt with their portable Cradle Act, they also did a great Hanging Perch as The Aerial-Stylites.

What a neat way to frame an act. Adds a classy look to the whole performance. Not much of this around anymore. Struppi was another that made a whole lot of difference with dressing up the rigging. Makes it all come together like the pros they were.
THE...GERALDOS...
DOUBLE TRAPEZ CAT...FANTASTIC...
Just for the records of where did Andre Prince got his one of a kind act. The rigging of the upside down unicycle act' he baught it from 'Lucien & Madelene Chapelle' Aka 'IDALYS' we worked many a time with them and still gething in thouch with Lucien (Madelene' 'his wife' is no longer on this planet).. Great people.
The Giraldos did not use a catcher in their flying act. A very unusual presentation.
Bill, would these Giraldo's be in relation to marino and Dietre giraldo who does a wheel act and highwire act now? They were on hamid and jordan most recently.
I was just going to paralell nINETTES COMMENTS in regard to Idalys. I recall working with them in the Chicago Stadium and what a sensation the act was. Andre changed it to Hildalys and produced that great upside down aerial ballet on Ringling with his act in the middle and then he engineered that track in Vegas Circus Circus. He sold the act to Johnny and Patsy Jordan. Having worked with all three versions, I would suggest they all did it well and kept the high standards it was known for.
Jack,
I definately have a picture in my mind of catcher Ralph Oyseth wearing the "Robin Hood" style wardrobe Giraldos wore in the act. Maybe they did it both ways. Also I believe the rigging they used was formerly that of The Flying Victors, it was a frame, however not straight like most, from the pedastal it angled up to a peak in the center, and back down to the catch end.
Ralph Oyseth was previously the catcher for Harold Voise, & before that worked in The Eriksons Balancing Act.
When I saw The Giraldos flying act in Shreveport(Shrine show)Louisiana there was no catcher. They controlled the catch trapeze from the pedestal board by a rope and pulley arrangement. I discussed this with Mr. Giraldo some years later when he was in West Monroe, Louisiana doing the wheel act on a carnival. I never had a chance to see the act with a catcher. Of course, their original double trap act was outstanding.
