Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

TRAVELOGUE #2: HELL DRIVERS

The opening in this clip is one of the beautiful structures on the beautiful Canadian National Exhibition grounds.

I have heard that there are no longer any Automobile Thrill Shows left in the United States, what a shame! For those of you who remember them this will tease your memory just a little.

Fast moving cars, precision bumper to bumper manuvers, and a fast talking MC made for thrills that filled the grandstands at least one day of almost every County, & State Fair in the country. And when the show was over they weren't done driving, the next performance was 900 miles away the following night, Circus performers began referring to any long overnighter as a, "Thrill Show Jump".
If we were working a bigger fair date for a week, and we knew the Jack Kochman Thrill Show was coming for more than one day, we also knew it was "party time", one particular driver,Jake Plumsted, would buy the meat & liquid refreshments, rent a trailer mounted BBQ grill and a cook, & the acts wives would fix the side dishes, and I'm gettin' hungry!

THE T-BONE CRASH
Up the ramps, through the air crashing broadside into a parked car.

I sure hope you are right. I did hear the other day that Tonny Peterson has retired.
He was a member of The Amandis Teeterboard Act, & I remember seeing him do a round-off flip flap, & full twisting somersault to the shoulders of understander Finn.
He was also one of the finest gentlemen I ever met.
