Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

Hey, Bill,

This is Bill Schreiber and I can help you out. The woman trainer is Cheryl Shawver, who, with her African elephant punk, Tembo/Ivory, was on Big John's show for at least part of the 1975 season. She had this leopard that she was trying to develop into an act. Big John, being the person he was, was willing to let young performers try new acts on his show. The guy helping her in the ring is Julian Sylvester. He has gone on to have his own TV program shows on the Animal Planet channel, always with reptiles. He also has done some movie work with reptiles -- the fairly recent thriller "Snakes on a Plane" was one of his recent efforts. He goes by Jules Sylvester now. Every now and then one of his shows gets aired on that channel. Cheryl was associated with Hubert Wells and his animal operations near 1000 Oaks, Calif. Julian had come to the US from Kenya, where his folks were hotel managers. He was/is a good all around animal man. The clown at the announcer stand is, I believe, Don "Poko" Young who was a fixture on Big John's show for a number of years.
Thanks for the memories!
