The Platos, were Lily & Svend Kristensen, we knew her more recently for her caged Leopard Act, "Lili-Ana".

I was among the millions of kids who loved the screen Tarzan, and grew up knowing the name of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Tarzan's prolific creator. The Burroughs estate tried to stop Zerbini from using the name Tarzan, but he got into court ahead of them and had Tarzan become part of his legal name.

When I lived in Tarzana, California, it was interesting to see the Burroughs and Tarzan exhibit in the lobby of the local Post Office. The Burroughs' massive Tarzana ranch had long since been broken up into real estate parcels.

Some may remember that Ernestine Clarke Baer, Kim's mother, served as a volunteer who assisted in the caregiving of Johnny Weissmuller, when he was a patient at Motion Picture Hospital, in neighboring Woodland Hills, from 1977 to 1979.

For a great history on this man, go to Geoff's Johnny Weissmuller Web Site. Be sure to click on the Animals link, to see coverage of the Louis Goebel and Compound animals used on the Weissmuller pictures. My great mentor, Benny Bennett, worked all the Weissmuller Tarzan and Jungle Jim films, plus the seven with Lex Barker--just a small fraction of pictures made with animals from Thousand Oaks. It is agreed in a landslide among Tarzan fans and critics that Weissmuller remains the definitive Tarzan. You bet.

I used to tell Jon Zerbini not to worry if he got alittle overweight, he could always wear khakis, & call himself "Jungle Jean",(Jon).

Seriously, there are some actors of those days, I can watch over, & over, Weismuller is one of them.

The last movie I went to a theater to see wasT "TARZEN Lord of Greystone". The house was so packed I had to set in the isle like many others. I was so impressed that I went back the next day to see it again. I went early to be sure to get a seat. I have since bought the Video and have played it dozens of times. Those APES were fantastic. I cried through most of the movie. God it was good. That actor could not speak english yet and that made him more real. Who showed TARZEN about wardrobe? I am sure a chimp did not invent a loin cloth. That movie to me was the best ever made to be so like real life. Men in the theature had tears in their eyes. As a baby playing with the baby chimps it was histerical. He gave up the girl to go back to his animals. Been there/done that.
