Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

SNAPSHOT: BARREL JUMPER

Here's one that's available in "THE GIBTOWN DIME'S STORE".

Maybe because it's been so long since we've seen one, but when performers talk about hard physical acts this one seems to get forgotten, but it has few equals for requiring strenght & stamina. I'm quite sure this is Terry Obrien,(probably because he's the only one I remember), he has jumped from the floor into the first barrel,(left), then up to the table, then into the second barrel, from there into the two high barrel, then up to the two high table, and as you can see, with his partner on his shoulders. Anyone care to try it????

I should probably change the wording in my description to, " I think this guy's name was Terry Obrien". Everyone seems to think I mean someone who does a different type act. To begin with this photo was taken in Madison Square Garden just short of being 50 yrs. ago, he may not even be alive now, but there must be someone out there that knows who this is.

If you ever find him or one of his family, find out what they ate for breakfast. Really a wonderful series of pictures this month.
