Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

THE 1930'S

ZEIGER UNITED SHOWS, 1939
Dime & his father owned & operated this Animal Show on Zeiger United Railroad Carnival for two years. Gil worked the stock, Dime did the clowning & Lil took care of the tickets. It was in that year that Billboard had their Favorite Outdoor Performer Contest, Dime won the Clown Division (Carnival), with 13,992 votes & was 8th place in the Universal Title, they added (Carnival) because Dime was on Zeiger United that year. Emmett Kelly was Circus Winner with 9,503, & Shorty Flemm was in 3rd place with 9,408.

BUD ANDERSON, SEAL BROS. CIRCUS, 1936
Bud Anderson shown here with Amelia Matsumoto, it was on his Seal Bros. that Dime first met the Doile sisters, Maxine & Connie.

BARNEY BROS. CIRCUS, 1935
Dime's second love after clowning was his Pit Show, with Snakes, Alligators, & Turtles, and he continued to operate one on fairs up into the early fifties.
