I don't remember when the Compound closed, the last time I saw Roy Kabat was at the ill-fated Dobritch date in L.A. '68.

I don't know if this show left the west coast, maybe Roger S. can enlighten us.

Roy Kabat & Al Dobritch:
They think there are a lot of stories in the big city, they should have been in the L. A. Sports Arena for the Dobritch show in '68. We went on strike over 16% of the total contract, picketed the bldg. etc. Dobritch finally gave in, & wrote checks, which we took to the box office & had cashed. At show time that night the show began as normal,,,,until Paul announced Ada Smeija, she sat in the back yard on the elephant she entered on, with Roy standing beside her. Dobritch came running out to see what was wrong and Roy was holding the check in the air. The box office had run out of money, Al didn't even slow down, he snatched the check out of Roy's hand & kept going. He returned a short time later with the cash, and the show went on.
