Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

HAZEL KING #10 BAILEY BROS & GIL GRAY, & RETIREMENT

Unfortunately I have no photos of Hazel in her later years, after Daily Bros. she spent several years with Bailey Bros. Circus owned by "Big" Bob Stevens where she was horse trainer, & boss over the "ring stock". She joined the Gil Gray Circus about 1952 & stayed there five years before retiring to her home in Gainesville, Texas, with Major, age 23, & her favorite Terrier "Midge".

MAJOR, MIDGE, & HAZEL
My brother-in-law, Dennie "PeeWee" Pinson, who was a native of Gainesville said he used to see Hazel riding Major to the grocery store, carrying the groceries home in the saddle bags.

To quote the interview one more time, "One famous horse trainer, a German named Austin Sable, had secured her services for his show, and he tried to instruct her. However after the first day in the ring together, he remarked, "I cannot teach you anything, you already know everything there is to know". Hazel, said he was the best trainer she ever had, and she had worked with many great horse trainers through the years, she said she listened & obeyed their instructions, Hazel's motto was, "Look, Listen, and Obey"
