Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

FROM KENNETH PALMGREN IN SWEDEN: MYSTERY ROCKET CAR DRIVER????

Hello Bill!
It's a very interesting story about how I become aware of this
Circus Act.
I am living in a small town in the south of Sweden named Hästveda.

Some years ago I heard about a man from here who had been a "gun
bullet"(cannon ball) in US. Somebody asked me about a man who had been
a goalkeeper in bandy,(hockey), sport here in Sweden. I asked around and
found the hockey photo and also from his brother a photo from US showing him with Cressos Rocket Car.
He never told anybody here about his adventure, so few know about
his time in US, only that he had been a sailor and away from here for
almost 10 years. I think something happend that he didnt like, but to his
frisor he mentiond he had been a stunt man in US.

On the backside of the Cresso photo you can read " Larry Epstein 1122
Lakeside avenue Li9-2005 PHILA. 26 PA.

His name was Knut "Knutte" Danielsson born 8-th of September 1920
and died here in Hästveda 16-th of march 1987.

He is the man with the helmet in the picture. Do you know who the other
man is? Is it the same man you can see on the video clip?

What was Cressos? Still exciting in any form? Very interested in all
about this show. Because I*m going to make an article in local
newspaper about Knut and interesting for local history.

Well that's all from now, please let me know all you know about this
story!!
Regards Kenneth

i don't know anything about the rcket car, but Larry Epstein was one of the most impressive circus photographers of the 60s. i haven't heard from him since 1965, but i always looked forward to our dates near his home because he always took a great number of great photos i used when was doing press for sells and gray.

henry: Thank you, is that by any chance Epstein in the photo? I never worked with Cresso so have no idea what he looks like.

i don't think that's larry in the photo; i think the stamp meant he took the photo and i don't remember ever seeing him in any of the photos. i never met him live -- i was always a week ahead of the show. that was the bad thing about being on the advance -- it was a great job and i loved everything about it -- but as much as i loved being on the show, i spent very little time on the lot. Larry and I did everything on the phone and through the mail. so many of the people on sells and gray at that time -- the ones who would have made sure he had access to get to the right places for the best shots -- are no longer with us anymore.
