Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

SNAPSHOT:IRON JAW ACT

This seems to be a Street Fair or celebration of some sort as it is was close to a photo with a Flying Act also on a street. Lillian Wilson's Iron Jaw career was cut short by a fall that caused very serious injuries that took months to heal, fortunately she had other talents and remained active in the Circus well into her '70's.

Everytime I looked at this photo in my files I had the same thought, it looked like a lynching, but then when I looked at it blown up it didn't look so bad. I have lots of photos of aerial acts hanging from telephone poles. It must have been nice for acts to come into a fair and have poles already up.

Seems to me I have started my days doing this for the last five years. By the skin of my teeth with no safety net.
