Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

FAVORITE THINGS #10 :CLOWNS

I have to say that if I were to have an "also ran", or "honorable mention", in this group, it would take 6 posts to list the names of the clowns I've enjoyed through the years. Note the song title is, " These Are A [Few] Of My Favorite Things"

CONNIE & DIME WILSON
If I ever wished anything for newly weds, it would be in-laws like mine!!!!

DANNY CHAPMAN
J.C,Penny once said, "When you fall down,,,,get up", this guy personifies that philosophy!!!!

BUMPSY ANTHONY
Never imitated, it can't be done.

CHESTER BOBO BARNETT
In Germany they have a term, "Ear Worm", that's a song you can't get out of your head, wouldn't be bad if it was BoBo, playing "Peg O' My Heart"!

OTTO GRIEBLING
When I was on a show with him I never missed his come-in.

THE SHERMAN BROTHERS
Chester & Joe Sherman, nuff said!!!!

CARL MARX
Another great come-in clown!

RUDY DOCKEY, BUMPSY ANTHONY, & DIME WILSON
What? Three shows a day for half a weeks pay????
Hamid-Morton& Hunt bros. Circus, Palisades Park, NJ, 1957.

Rudy Dockey was an amazing clown; he played classical music with a balloon!

I've always said he made a balloon sound like a Stradivarius, he was a very talented man, & it was sad that his later years were as they were.

Did any one know that Mr Docky, in his younger years, was a great tumbler?
I believe he worked with my father on the Sarassani Circus about a 100 years ago...LOL

I wish I had seen him when he was younger, even then in '57 he would still stand behind his shoes and do a gainer somersault, landing in the shoes.
