- Name: 24-HOUR-MAN

Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

Woooww!!! I don't think we will see that kind of act again soon. Incredible what they use to do in show biss'.
Was this the same Capt Cresso from the 60's?? cc
Jay Cochran has the rigging now... Mr. Lee
cc: There were two of these acts, Rassini, & Cresso, I think this is Cresso, & it would be the same one.
Lee: Does Jay have the Rassini car, later worked by Eddie Ventura, or the Cresso car, it seems to me one of them went to CWM, I may be wrong.
You're right Bill, one of the cars and rigging is in Baraboo. I'm pretty sure Jay has the one owned by Atterbury/ Eddie. But won't swear to it, We were doing fair dates together when he picked it up. Judy and I even got in the car and took some pictures, Budda only knows where those pics are now !! lol. Seems I remeber Jay has The Kimris/Strong/Chabira Rigging although it was changed and modified greatly..Mr. Lee
A close-up look at the last photo, leads me to believe it was Rassini of whom is still in Las Vegas. The outfit in the photo is what Rassini wore to do his act.
Back stage -- there were always bets made as to his landing. He was quite the charater, and a nice guy. Denmark performer??
The times I worked with or saw the Rocket car I never saw it land right side up.
Same here....LOL
I don't know if it was this car or the "other one", but when they tried to set it up in Rochester for M&M it wouldn't work when they sent it down the ramp unloaded. It was either too short to the catch or it turned over. No one would ride in it to try it. We cut it from the show. Bill Galloway
The Car in the picture is Papa Rasini. I was the only one Papa showed everything about this rigging. a lot tryed but didn't know exactly what to do to make it work right. I used to bounce " corpse " out of the net when I was mad at him. The last time the act worked was in Minnesota when the rider broke his arm because bob was too cheep to replace the tire and repaired it instead and it didn't hold. It was left in a storage place and I never seen it again. I wish I knew who really had it, would love to see it again. Oh by the way, I'm Donny, Carol Atterbury's son if you are wondering.
donny ryan: I heard the car now belongs to Jay Cochran.
Hi, I'm Eddy Ventura and the rigging in the picture is Rassini's rocket car taken sometime in the late 40's. Cresso's rigging was in Houston Texas with Bill Siros of the thrill show although it is probably scrap by now. The rigging that Jay Cocoran bought from Bob Atterbury was Rasin's and after he made a new rigging I'm told the origanal was abandoned behind a gas station near Kennywood Park. Jay sold the rigging to Eugene Nock and he took out the somersault and built a car that looked virtually indestructable. He showed me a video clip a few years ago. If anyone is intersted I'm a rigger at Mystere in Las Vegas.
Hi Eddy,
Sure good to hear from you, Trudy & I have often wondered what became of you, glad to hear you are still around, & still goin. So many from our time are gone.
I'm pretty sure the Cresso car wound up in Baraboo, at CWM.
Jay now has our old rigging, and just about every other thrill act rigging too.
Keep in Touch,
Bill Strong
hey Bill, I didn't realize it was you. David Chabira said you were selling memoraphilla.I only found the web site by chance.Unless they obtained a secong rigging the rocket car in Baraboo came from aut Swenson's thrill show. It is very old, the photos I saw of it show at one time it launched two car one going over the other. It dates to the 30's or earlier.
I do that too.
Thanks for the info on the cars!
It's like Paul Kaye says,,,,You can't tell the players without a program!!!!
