Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

DOWN MEMORY LANE: FROM THE HOME MOVIES OF THE PEDRO MORALES FAMILY

Today I thought we could follow the arrows back down the road a ways with some back yard stuff, the first clip is from the Tom Packs Circus at the St Louis Public High School Stadium. We find ourselves at a Birthday Party, with lots of familliar faces, some who are still with us, & some who are not. Unfortunately even some of the youngsters in this film have gone on, but maybe this will bring back memories of happier times.

One thing I have noticed when having the opportunity to view home movies of circus backyards, is how shy the vast majority of the people being filmed are.
As entertainers I am sure they played to hundreds of thousands and maybe more during their careers. Appeared on many T.V. shows. Yet in a home movie the vast majority seem shy and awkward. To me anyway, and not knowing the individuals personally, many display a giddy nervousness when being filmed. Some even seem embarrassed. Yet when performing before packed houses, before royalty, heads of state, showfolks project an air of cool , calm, and confidence.
Thank you for sharing your backyard clips with all of us.
