Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

MEMORIES: HOXIE BROS. CIRCUS 1968

Here's a pair! Hoxie Tucker & Dime Wilson, when Dime first went on Hoxie Bros. he noticed there was no Color Book Pitch, he asked Tucker why & he said he didn't want to take the butchers off their regular items for it. Dime said how about I do it and split with you, Tucker said, go ahead if you want but you don't have to give me anything. After watching Dime sell books for a couple days, and seeing how they sell, he came to Dime and said,"Say Dime, about those Coloring Books"! Tucker was another one of my favorite people, even if he didn't like my rain dance.

One year dime made some poles with fringe & bells for the men to carry in Spec, one day while waiting for the show to start I was tapping one on the ground in time with the music on the midway, and some one jokingly said, "do a rain dance", I took his stick, and held the two up toward the sky, shook them, and shouted, "rain, rain"! It started raining between shows and rained for 21 days. Needless to say Tucker wasn' very happy, he told Dime, "don't you ever let that---get his hands on those sticks again!!!!
