Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

SNAPSHOTS: POLACK BROS. CIRCUS

From Eva Williams come these three snapshots of some of the well known Polack Bros. productions, staged no doubt by the legendery Vander Barbette.
In the first I recognize Struppi,& Little Audry on the left, Eva, in the center, unidentitied, & Kay Francis Hanneford , on the right.
In the second picture I do believe it is George Hanneford Jr. on horseback, I recognize Clowns Larry Benner 2nd from left, & Alfred Florenz, 2nd from right, among the girls are the German All Girl Tumbling Act, The Symphonettes.
In the third picture, there is no mistaking that is Tajana,(Struppi Hanneford), on the drum, Helen Amandis, Terry Abott, Eva, & Brenda Cuttin. The third girl on the left of Struppi, is Jana Corona. She says they are 1959.

Flashbacks from the movie "Rosemarie"with
Janette McDonald and Nelson Eddy. While watching this movie recently, all I could think of was the Medina Temple and the Pollack show. There's a dance number at an indian pow-wow and the music score is what Princess Tajana danced to in this production number. A class A performance.I remember Prince Elkigardo cat act and of course the potentate of the pachaderms, Mac McDonald. Also the Wiz Kids unicycle act.

For those who don't know, "The Cycling Whiz Kids" were Jimmy, Carmen, Erwin, & Jeannie,(spl?), the four children of Auralia, & Mel Hall,(considered by many as the Greatest Unicycle Rider of all times), stories I heard were that they could ride unicycles before they could walk.
