Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

HERE'S A TREAT FOR THE BIG CAT FANS

They say "leave 'em wantin more", I can honestly say this is not nearly enough to satisfy my appetite for watching this man at work, but it's all there is on a Morales Family tape on loan from Cathy Morales Moore.

The Illustrious Mr."B"
When this guy stood in the center of the steal arena, at the opening of his act, stood straight up and did not make a move other than the arm he used to crack the whip, with a tight spotlight on him, while Revel's Bolero was being played, like Gunther, he had them in his pocket from then on.
On showman ship this guy gets a definite,
"two thumbs up"

A bizarre though came to mind. If you had to compare myself and Wade Burck in the ring to Mr.(B), that would be like comparing Abbott & Costello to Fernando Lamas

For some reason I always picture Robert Baudy on the set of "South Pacific", singing "Some Enchanted Evening"!!!!

Mr. Hall,
Mr WB could always sing HAPPY TALK...it has enough tongue twisters to keep Mr. WB very busy.

I remember seeing Baudy on some Frank Wirth dates by the mid 60s, before Charly Baumann's arrival. It was the first cat act I ever saw that departed from the white clothes, gun and chair format--though Tarzen did work in a loin cloth! (I confess I don't recall how Tarzen worked his act when he first arrived on Mills about 1961, and I think it was all lions.) I was very impressed and wanted to see more acts like this with an emphasis on the majesty of the tigers. I recall Baudy's nicely scrolled props evident in the film and a slightly different style for the big cage sections.
Compliments to the photographer and film editor--thoughtfully done. My thanks to the showfolks who took movies and to their families for now sharing them. More, please!

James C. Hall, should I wear the Hywhyan shirt with the Palm tree's in Evansville, or the tattered pant's with sandle's. The tattered pant's I still have from last year. If it's two thumb's up on the shirt, I need to let JoAnn know soon. Wade Burck
