Three years at CWM made me a real traditionalist, and I keep remembering Bob Parkinson saying, "I want the people to see what the circus used to be, not what it is today. That's what this site is about!

FIRST IMPRESSION: CAPES & ENTRANCE WARDROBE, LOVELY LADIES

Mike Crowley, who was Manager of The Capitol Center, & Executive Producer of Circus America, was an Ice Show man, accustomed to seeing skaters already performing as they entered through the curtain. He once told me he didn't understand the Circus concept of entering the ring & taking a bow when you haven't done anything yet. Maybe he was right, maybe not, but I think presenting yourself to the public, and making a good "First Impression", is very important, after all wardrobe plays a big part in the presentation of any performance.

LA NORMA
Norma favored a Cocktail Dress, which she shed with one quick move as she was pulled up to the trapeze, as it floated to the ground, it created the desired effect.

MISS MARA
Mara was quite lovely in her elaborate feathered cape & headpiece, which was removed before ascending to her trapeze.

MARGUERITE MICHELE
Just a few Feather Boas, & simple headpiece were quite sufficient for this lovely Hair Hang artist.

This series is great. So many stars with so much talent. in the 50s and 60s and 70s we didn't realize how lucky we were to have so many great performers. how wonderful it would be if we had video of all these people to remember what a real circus star
was.
