FROM JOHN HERRIOTT: THE ENGFORDS

Just got a phone call from Johhny telling me about their new HP Photo Program, and this photo he sent. He said he has to learn how to use it, and it looks like he's doing fine so far.
John & I have often discussed Lum Wong's "soft back" handstand & his walking on his hands on the bar. Well now I have to eat my words about Lum having the X on the trick. This is Ruthie Engford Clark, and her mother & father doing their act, and as you can see, her father did this handwalk on the bar.

THE ENGFORDS.

Thanks to Johnny for sending this photo of my family "The Engfords"--The trick referred here as "walking the Bar", is the one my family always called, " the Pole Trick"--- Actually, my Grandfather (Robert Engford) and my father ( Harry Engford) were recognized as the ONLY ones ever to accomplish this feat of walking "Hand-Over-Hand" ( as opposed to "side-by-side)-- The "hand-over-hand" being technically, the most difficult. Further, they BOTH did this with "life" supporting BOTH ends of the pole-- This photo shows "life" at one end. Further, after "walking" down the pole, they each held a "one-handstand" position to finish the trick. Thanks again, Bill for posting this, and again to Johnny for sending the photo--
